Your feet want to carry you through life
Most of us use our feet many hours a day – sometimes in business-appropriate shoes. Everything from pumps to stylish dress shoes for men, different types of shoes in healthcare where you walk and stand a lot, or rough shoes with steel toes in industries where we need to protect our feet from above and below.
If you are an active athlete in a sport with a lot of action, it is extremely crucial for your performance that you do not have any disturbing moments or pain in your feet.
Age and health naturally also affect our feet. When you become stiffer with age, it is also not so easy to take care of your feet yourself.
Feet are unique. You only have one pair – and they will last you a lifetime. Care and regular maintenance can make life so much easier for you and your feet, as well as for joints and muscles that otherwise take a beating.
See below how we want to help you.
Calluses
Usually through a small misalignment in the foot such as supination or pronation. The outside or inside gets to take the most load and A small callus can easily develop into a corn, which starts to hurt over time. Heel cracks cause similar problems with pain and discomfort.
We adapt by starting to load the foot in an unnatural way, which in turn causes muscle tension – and in the long run inflammation in the muscles, tendons, joints and moves up to the knees and hips. We remove these calluses, which makes it easier for your whole body.
Warts
Many people have a wart under their foot without even knowing it. If it is not treated, it can spread to other parts of the feet. If you also share a bathroom with several people in the household, the risk of infection to others is to be expected. We treat warts in several different ways. Repeated treatment within a few weeks may sometimes be necessary, depending on the treatment chosen.
Ingrown toenails
Sometimes hereditary when the nail is or gradually becomes spoon-shaped and begins to penetrate the nail bed, causing irritation and pain. Can also be caused by incorrectly cut nails. If you start nail treatment in good time, we can usually get rid of the ingrown toenail.
We grind or cut away a narrow part of the nail where it cuts into the skin, down to the nail root. We can also help with nail correction here.
Nail fungus
Toenail fungus usually occurs after you have had athlete’s foot for a while. Athlete’s foot thrives in moist environments and often starts between the little toe and ring toe with moist white flakes of skin. It doesn’t always itch or cause discomfort, so you can have athlete’s foot without noticing it. Always wipe between your toes after a shower. Always wash socks at 60c – otherwise the fungal spores will remain. Athlete’s foot is easily treated. We have the right products!
Once the fungus has entered the nail, it begins to become yellow and black streaked. It often becomes thicker and slightly porous.
When you have a discolored, thick or “ugly” nail, the problem can also be due to bacteria (40%) in the nail, psoriasis or eczema (20%). Fungus is the cause in about 50% of tests carried out. To ensure the cause, we can perform a nail test (HFL Fungi-check) at an additional cost so that the correct treatment can be initiated.
It is completely unnecessary to buy expensive preparations at the pharmacy if the diagnosis is not confirmed.
We grind down the nail to remove as many fungal spores as possible. After that, you can start self-treatment. It is rarely useful to try to treat before most of the spores have been ground away.
We have the right products for continued self-care!
Heel spur (pain under the heel)
Often due to stressed tendon bundle under the foot (Plantar fascia). The discomfort is alleviated by knowledge of the cause and by a lower leg and foot massage. Some self-care according to instructions also improves the chances of mitigating the discomfort and eventually becoming problem-free. We can also help with taping to reduce the problems and refer to skilled orthopedic technicians for possible inserts.
Hallux Valgus (inward-curving big toe)
Is usually hereditary and more common in women than in men. If you also pronate or overpronate, it worsens the problem. We identify the underlying problem and prescribe appropriate foot exercises where you can start to remedy the problem yourself.
In the case of simultaneous overpronation, we can prescribe a suitable orthopedic technician who makes inserts with the aim of straightening the foot when walking and running.
